Guillermo Arismendi 『The search of a personal language』1/2

【Profile】

-Guillermo Arismendi-

Guillermo is a digital and oil painting artist in Tenerife. His creation process is inspired by music and dance, logic and poetry. The collection of his works are created to express feelings and memories that go beyond words.

――What did you think when we contacted on Instagram?

well, nowadays, Instagram gives more opportunities to interact with people and the works, and for me, to communicate with a lot of people through my work is the best reward. It is the best way to show and express my ideas and share my art. I don’t really set the boundaries when I share my art because I think it’s a form of communication, so I am open to everyone.

――What's your theme when you paint?

Well, I categorized my works based on the colors just because it’s easier for the viewers.

Normally, I use four or five different approaches and elements and combine them all together.

I want to represent the mood with the color and also I don’t want to use the same color that I used yesterday, so if I used a light color I would use a warm color the next day. I don’t want to be trapped by trend. if you see my Instagram, each day the color is changing, I want to expect from myself. every day is a different mood and a different approach.

I let it go free, and let the work be alive by itself more than my willingness that I want to do something. I let it grow by itself.

――Where do you get your inspirations from?

I get it from my old memories in the back of my mind like my childhood. I try to rescue and reproduce them but not to assemble them. I am not trying to draw my memory but the emotions. I am trying to be as free and less personal as I can. I participate but not conducting with my own personality. I learn a lot from chaos.

――Does that connect to the word ‘expression beyond the words’ on your website?

Yes, I prefer to be a part of the process, not a conductor. I want the unexpected result. You never know how one color is going to be, only when you put it you know. So I take a step back and trying to see my works as not my work and I am just trying to help the work to be alive.
