Yusuke Ishii『Live in the moment』2/2

――Do you need inspiration?

Yes, I do.

――What do you think you get inspiration from?

And then there's the internet, and the internet, and the internet. (laughs) I also like the internet, interior design, clothing combinations, sand, and light. I also like sand and light. Anyway, I start with things that have color.

――Do you have any difficulties?

I think the first florist I worked at. The florist was owned by a flower artist. It was my first job, and the work was also difficult.

I learned how to move fast and how to be polite by watching and learning. But in the end, I learned a lot because I had to sense what the customers wanted.

――Do you have any aspirations?

I don't think so. I'm not trying to be big. I just want to be normal.

――I saw the pictures of the work you have been making lately. The way you combine them is interesting.

What do you have in mind, and how do you decide what to combine?

I went to the supermarket and bought materials that looked interesting, and then I chose materials and colors that I thought would go well together on the spot and combined them to make it! I had fun matching them on the spot!

I hope you'll pay attention to the texture of the materials! I want you to pay attention to the texture of the fish scales and the shadows cast by the iron.

――Is there a big difference between making client based flowers and making flowers as art?

When I make a bouquet or a work of art, it's the same!

I don't consciously think I have a favorite combination when expressing myself, but I think I do!

――What kind of works would you like to make in the future?

I think it would be interesting if I could make a series of works like this in the future!

――What do you think your strength is?

I guess I don't think too much. I have a strong "I'll figure it out" mentality.

――What are the strengths of your work?

I think it's the colors and the fact that I don't get caught up in concepts.

――What do you hope for in your work?

I hope that people will find them interesting and that they will become part of the interior design.

――Who do you want to send your work to?

I want to create something that catches people's eyes, rather than focusing on spreading the work.

――What are your future goals?

I don't really know right now (laugh).
